One of the (many) differences between Soleil and Charlie is in how their feathres look when wet. When Soleil bathes, she comes out looking drenched. For the next half-hour or more it is clear that she has just bathed, and she's still drying off. More than once we have rushed her upstairs for assistance with a hair dryer.
But when Charlie bathes, he never looks wet! He splashes around; we can see water running off his head, but his feathres never look wet. Perhaps he's part duck.
Is it partly because of their different ages? Soleil is still quite young: perhaps she doesn't keep her feathres as well-oiled as an adult conure would.
If you can contribute anything to our understanding of this dichotomy, please comment here!
Here is a movie of Charlie bathing.
Soleil all wet.

This is a place for us to document the daily habits of our new Indian Ringneck Parakeet, Vicki's birthday present, and our family Christmas gift, a Sun conure. It's not intended as a public outlet, but if the information here helps you, please comment and let us know.
